About Bester News
Bester [best.er] News is primarily a RSS driven syndicated news site, updated continually with content from several hundred sources. On top of the available news sections, the site also has a customizable home-page portal known as My Front Page. This lets individuals create home pages that display the news and content that interests them.
History
Bester News was started by me, Brady Emerson, in the summer of 2006 (originally Global News Now) to provide a one stop site for news and information. I hope to develop the site into a recognized source to get breaking news from around the world and am always looking at ways to develop and update the site toward that goal. The site is developed with PHP5 and uses MySQL for the backend database. The frontend is displayed using a custom XHTML/CSS template and a little JavaScript/AJAX.
A year later, it's still just me working on the site, although I do get valuable design and feature help from my friends. The site you see now is actually the second version of site (complete rewrite of original), and since then many files have undergone hundreds of minor revisions as new features are added.
The mobile version of the site was launched in spring of 2007 and is a great way for individuals to get up-to-date news, weather, traffic, and stock quotes using their mobile browser. The mobile site uses the same backend as the main site, however is restricted to sources designed for mobile devices.

Bester News is still very much a work in progress and I need your help to improve it. Whether your idea is a design idea, a topic that should be added, or a feature that is missing I would love to hear what you think. Your feedback, both positive and negative, is what improves the site for all users and moves me closer towards my goal.
